The role of the Midwest over the next few decades as a receiving community for those moving to a semi-safer area is part of why local Midwest struggles over housing and water justice are essential. We are already seeing wild amounts of out of state housing purchases by absentee landlords from thousands of miles away which is leading to affordability crises in places like Cincinnati. I expect this will keep getting worse as we're framed as America's climate fallout shelter.
