I believe those that built #activitypub and that have projects and or major influence within the #Fediverse should absolutely come together to provide education, information, stability and uniformity. Especially, as there’s this incredible growth is happening. It would clear up any misinformation. People by nature like things clearly defined. I believe with #Barcelona coming soon, Mozilla’s #Mastodon instance and those migrating from #Reddit now is an opportune time.
@damon Just saw a conversion on lemmy started by a newbie who clearly presumed that "fediverse" was a thing that must have some official standing and existence and must also therefore have an official webpage where everything about it can be found out including all the instances that can be joined etc.

Someone had to explain to them that that's not really how it is or works. Sometimes you gotta meet your users where they are if you want them to have a good experience.
@maegul Absolutely! Thank you for saying this. That’s why the gatekeeper and HOA attitudes are dangerous. Newcomers should be warmly welcomed and provided accurate information. I see so much misinformation floating around and being presented as if accurate. We should meet people where they are but it’s also great to have those most involved and knowledgeable as the loudest voices. It would provide security to users and those that want to create projects and host instances that include others.
