I *never* see my Desktop or wallpaper.

I wonder what people are doing with their computers.

@ctietze I still think it would be better as a modal layer, just like dashboard used to be… couldn’t you also drag those into their own floating windows too?

@jordanborth @ctietze

Two things: Apple Designers are focused on the way things look over the way things work. That’s why we have overly saturated wallpapers that bleed through our UI bc we, for some reason, need to always see our “pretty wallpaper.”

Second thing, it’s sorta like old Dashboard but instead of an overlay to show your widgets, you use App Exposé or whatever, to push all your windows aside and reveal your desktop widgets.

@marioguzman @jordanborth Only reason for the wallpaper to bleed through all these UI elements is "Look how fast this computer can render the blur effect!!1"

Doesn't impress me anymore :)

@ctietze @jordanborth oh for sure. Drives me bananas. I also turn off desktop tinting. Ugh.
@marioguzman @ctietze I actually like desktop tinting and all the materials and vibrancy tuff. I do think the yearly release cadence takes its toll and doesn’t generally allow for much refinement
@jordanborth I also think that'd be better

Gist

@ctietze I agree… I'm full screen on every app for years… but seeing seeing the spatial computing metaphor as a virtual desk made it make a little more sense when you move to the headset.

But on the limited real estate of a monitor? One big document please.

@ctietze 🤔, at least on the lock screen your wallpaper is visible?
