Dear @Gargron, this is what we need here.
@TedUnderwood @Gargron bluesky you looked at there, is developed by twitter. But it's a bit pointless to do that, as there is already an protocol called ActivityPub that is managed by the w3 which also standardised HTML and the whole Web. ActivityPub is used my Mastodon and a lot of other applications. If you don't like Mastodon, you can try pleroma or misskey and still are in the same network of networks, still have the same contacts.
@TedUnderwood @Gargron of course things can be added to the Mastodon software as well, but you can also pick a software that fits your needs better. That's one of the benefits of the Fediverse and something that all the twitter clones will not reach.
