Gannett CEO Mike Reed has cut staff at Massachusetts papers like he has everywhere else. So why are unions at the Ledger, Enterprise, Standard Times, etc. sitting out this strike? Perhaps because the employees are young and idealistic and focused on working to get ahead as journalists, and not on the profession as a whole. Which, I get it.
