@CauseOfBSOD how are you not understanding?
You hand the phone over, and they just demand you unlock it or unpin it or whatever, with some bullshit excuse.
And I love the concept that a police officer demanding to see your ID is going to afford you "3 extra seconds"
None of these technical solutions are adequate. You put your ID on your phone, and you give the cops a reason to take it.
That's a stupid thing to do, and no amount of Android settings will change it.
@CauseOfBSOD Like I don't know if you've ever been pulled over in the United States but they *take* your ID.
They don't look at it and hand it back. They take it back to their car to run records. You don't have your ID during this time.
Which means, if it's on your phone, pinned or not, you don't have your phone. You suddenly can't call your lawyer or your loved ones, you can't be recording the interaction with the police.
DON'T GIVE A COP YOUR PHONE EVER HOLY SHIT HOW ARE PEOPLE THIS THICK
Yes. To avoid carrying around a State ID weighing less than 30 grams, you should store it in your phone. But to keep yourself safe, carry around a fucking video camera recording pen at all times.
I'm becoming convinced all replies from mastodon users are generated by AI trolls, ya'll can't be real.
