AlonealastalovedalongtheYeah, this is exactly why the narrative that Chinese Social Media (TikTok) is ruining kids minds is being pushed, it provides some kind of moral panic justification for why mental health in young kids is trash... and yah Im sure the current design of social media isn't great for teenagers but om... the reason teenagers are depressed is because they aren't fucking idiots? They can see the world they are inheriting?
There is infinite room for moral panic about kids being absorbed into screens/social media and never looking up to the outside world, but absolutely zero room for asking what kids actually see when they look up from their phones to the outside world, and why maybe they then choose to go back to endlessly scrolling...
