Something that is frustrating about living in a dense walkable neighborhood in the US is that the students at the public schools perform far below grade level,

Then all the high income families move out of your neighborhood when their kids are school age

All I want is an affordable private school downtown. We have one near dt, but it's $40k a year. Excellent private schools 5-6 miles away are $5-7k a year.

@walk Sounds like a funding problem. Have the parents or neighborhood sought to increase?
@solvethehousingcrisis funding for a private school?
@walk For the public schools.

@solvethehousingcrisis there's been a 40% drop in Minneapolis Public school enrollment the last 20 years, pretty sure they are aware

Anyways my toot was about private schools

@walk I realize that, but public school would be cheaper and could be good if there was an increase in funding. I was just wondering if the people in the area were active in demanding greater funding for the public schools. That would make good education accessible to all instead of just those who can afford it.
@solvethehousingcrisis not sure how that would help get a private elementary school downtown, which is the problem at hand
