Loved Succession and loved the ending. But one thing that's been bugging me this season: the siblings agreed to buy Pierce for $10B and then it was never mentioned again. Or did I miss something?
@hendrik I think the Pierce deal was lined up for them to do once Royco sold and they got cashed out. Maybe contingent on them closing the first deal so they would have the cash to make the purchase.
@hivebrain In which case this would be coming up now after the sale. But as far as I remember nobody ever mentioned it again after they agreed to the purchase. Of course the motivation back then was more to f**k with their dad than because they really wanted to run it. But still, a bit weird that it never even got mentioned any more.
@hendrik I think the sale of Royco was all still up in the air until the last episode. The kids were trying to keep it from happening so they could keep the company, but then that last vote at the end was the final decision to close the deal. They make it sound like the kids lost at the end but they just get billions of dollars from the sale. It is weird that the pierce people weren’t pushing to get their deal put down on paper.
@hivebrain I just re-watched the scene where the kids give their number (10) and Nan Pierce just says “That gives us something to think about”. So you are right, it seems no papers were signed and there was no real binding commitment. And the kids lost interest after beating their dad in the game of “saying the biggest number”.
