Hey, it’s May! And since these days it’s rare for me to have an outfit that’s not at least partly made-by-me, I thought it would be fun to document my outfits for #MeMadeMay. Today’s outfit: my (sewn) black ikat Demeter Dress, layered under my (knit) magenta Wardie cardigan, with a (knit) purple Willow Cowl and (knit) purple DRK Everyday Socks.
#MeMadeMay outfit number 2: still quite chilly, so today I’m wearing my (sewn) green linen Demeter Dress, layered under my (knit) acid-green self-designed sweater with embroidered flowers on the yoke, with (knit) acid-green DRK Everyday Socks on my feet.
#MeMadeMay: It’s still so chilly here, so I’m bundled up in wool again. My purple Little Wave Cardigan, my acid green Willow Cowl, my bi-flag Joy Mitts, and (though you can’t see them in the picture), my purple DRK Everyday Socks. I really enjoy the purple+magenta+acid green color combo!
#MeMadeMay2023: still chilly, still gloomy, and still exhausted and dealing with end-of-semester stress. So I went for a cozy outfit: my (sewn) grey flannel York Pinafore (my very first sewn project!), my (knit) teal Perfin cardigan, and my (knit) acid-green Willow Cowl and DRK Everyday Socks.
#MeMadeMay2023 still chilly enough for wool, at least for me. Today’s outfit consists of: my (sewn) purple/blue/pink striped Cleo Skirt, my (knit) light purple Vita de Vie sweater, my (knit) dark purple Willow Cowl (yes, I’ve made a ton of these!) and my (knit) light purple DRK Everyday Socks (tons of these, too!).
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s warmer today! Wearing my (sewn) blue ikat Demeter Dress, and no handknits. The sweater is a very old storebought one that could use some mending - I noticed a few small holes when I put it on today. I love the way I can wear these loose-fitting dresses through all seasons depending on how I do or don’t layer.
#MeMadeMay2023 basically a repeat of yesterday’s outfit, but in different colors: my (sewn) black ikat Demeter Dress, with a purple storebought cardigan. It’s a bit chillier today so I’ve also got my (knit) dark purple DRK Everyday Socks.
#MeMadeMay2023 today was an on-campus day, so I wore my skirt that is far too vulnerable to cat claw-snags: my (sewn) dot-chambray Cleo Skirt (cat has pulled out several dots with claws). I also wore my first (knit) Wardie cardigan as a warm layer (which turned out to be unneeded because the space we were in for our instructor development workshop was quite warm!)
#MeMadeMay2023 my outfit today is all storebought, though someday I hope to sew myself some more overalls. But it was chilly this morning, so I wrapped my (knit) Pressed Flowers Shawl around my shoulders for some extra warmth.
#MeMadeMay2023 I’m wearing my kid’s favorite Cleo Skirt of all the ones I’ve sewn: the one from the amazing black with white & grey speckles Nani Iro double gauze that, according to my kid, looks like I’m wearing the Milky Way. Paired it with a storebought grey tank and a black lightweight open cardigan (it’s actually a maternity one, so it’s a good 12 years old now!), with the ends tied at the waist.
#MeMadeMay2023 It’s going to be quite warm today, so I went with my almost-iridescent green linen Demeter Dress (the fabric is actually turquoise cross-woven with copper, which yields a really amazing olive green that matches my eyes perfectly). Cardigan is a thin storebought grey one that dates back to my pregnancy when I needed light layers to go over maternity tanks. I love that I’ve been able to give so many of my storebought clothes a long life.
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s chilly today, so I’m back to layering sweaters over dresses. I’ve got my (knit) purple Vita de Vie sweater over my (sewn) undyed linen Demeter Dress, with my purple (knit) Willow Cowl on top, and my (knit) light purple DRK Everyday Socks on my feet.
#MeMadeMay2023 crooked photo today because my phone tipped just as the timer went off. Oh well! Today’s only me-made item is my pink/purple/blue striped Cleo Skirt. (I jokingly call it my “bi pride” Cleo Skirt!). Paired it with an ancient navy blue t-shirt from Target and my old purple storebought cardigan that I’ve already worn in at least one other outfit so far this month. And some heathered blue cotton tights, because it’s not really bare-legs weather here!
#MeMadeMay2023 I need to find a better time of day for photos - when it’s sunny, I end up losing half my body to the light!! Today’s outfit is my (sewn) black ikat Demeter Dress with my (knit) bright turquoise (with pink, yellow, and black speckles) Gridlines sweater layered over it.
#MeMadeMay2023 I wanted bright spring colors today, so went with my (sewn) bright green plaid Cleo Skirt with my (knit) bright green Tric cardigan, and my (knit) DRK Everyday Socks in Knitpicks Muse Sock “Untamed”, a nice blend of blues and greens.
#MeMadeMay2023 went for a grayscale look today (and warmth, because we had a freeze warning last night and it was cold in our house this morning!). My grey flannel York Pinafore (my first sewn clothing item!), my (knit) light grey Farmhouse Cardigan, and my light grey DRK Everyday Socks.
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s supposed to warm up today, but I was chilly this morning, so I layered my (knit) green & teal Pressed Flowers shawl over my outfit, which is my (sewn) Demeter Dress in teal Mariner’s Cloth (I love the texture!) and a bright green thin storebought cardigan that I noticed needs some mending at the shoulder seam.
#MeMadeMay2023 these “in between” temperature (50-60F) rainy days are tricky for me to dress for…they’re obviously warmer than the winter days when I need ALL the wool layers, but I still tend to feel cold. So I went with an oddball pairing of my (sewn) sleeveless blue ikat Demeter Dress under my probably overly-warm modified Cobblestone Sweater in blue hand-dyed BFL that I knit well over a decade ago - it’s basically my handknit wool version of a cozy sweatshirt.
#MeMadeMay2023 still (light) sweater weather here. Paired my (knit) light purple Vita de Vie pullover with my (sewn) magenta plaid Cleo Skirt today.
#MeMadeMay2023 today’s outfit is my (sewn) pink/purple/blue striped Cleo Skirt, paired with a navy blue King Arthur Flour t-shirt I picked up on clearance while ordering flour containers. Also my (knit) purple Little Wave cardigan, which I probably won’t need once it warms up this afternoon.
#MeMadeMay2023 Wearing my very first (sewn) Demeter Dress today, in undyed Essex linen/cotton, along with a crappy Lands End turquoise cardigan and some Athleta turquoise capri leggings for extra warmth. I’m still not sure that undyed linen is that great for me, since I’m so pale, but I do like it paired with turquoise.
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s a repeat outfit! Another chilly day called for something warm and cozy, and my (sewn) grey flannel York Pinafore with my (knit) grey Farmhouse Cardigan and my (knit) grey DRK Everyday Socks) fit the bill. I know it’s fun to show off all sorts of different outfits, but the truth is that I wear my me-made stuff a LOT, and avoiding repeats just seems wasteful to me.
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s a new (sewn) Cleo Skirt! I had cut it out (of dark blue Brussels Washer fabric) last summer but never got around to seeing it up. Paired it with a storebought top whose print I love (scattered blue “thumbprints”) but whose fit I don’t (so I never wear it without a cardigan), and my (knit) dark blue Farmhouse Cardigan, because it was still chilly this morning.
#MeMadeMay2023 it’s warmer today! So no handknits! Just my two-tone linen Demeter Dress (I think this one is my favorite!) and a lightweight silk cardigan that I thrifted back when I was in college.
#MeMadeMay2023 no handknits today, either! I really like this black ikat Demeter Dress. (The cardigan is a cheap Old Navy one that I got while pregnant with my now-11 year old.)
#MeMadeMay2023 today it’s the blue ikat Demeter Dress with an old storebought lightweight cardigan.
#MeMadeMay2023 trying something new today and layering my grey flannel York Pinafore over a stretchy yoga tank and capris. I know flannel’s not exactly a hot-weather fabric but it’s cozy, and I do hope to sew a couple Studio Tunics in linen that I think will also work well for this sort of outfit. Cardigan is a cheap Old Navy one that’s a little older than my kid; they’re not visible in the photo but I’ve mended a few holes in matching embroidery floss.
@writerethink Those bright colours are great with the grey!
@EllenInEdmonton thanks! I’ve always loved grey+brights!
