That's where schools miss the mark, especially as students approach senior year -- schools should be encouraging the students to not only respectfully disagree with the teacher's interpretation but also to offer their differing interpretation and being able to back it up.

I once had a home-school student who had made it into the program leave about a week in because she was so uncomfortable with having to deal with multiple viewpoints. But everyone else thrived!
