Sometimes journalists, newspapers, “influencers,” scientists, politicians & the rest of us get things wrong. But instead of acknowledging our mistakes, too often, pride or social norms get in the way of saying so.

But it’s good to change our minds when we have new evidence or a new perspective or experience that shapes our perceptions.

That’s how we learn. How we grow. And talking about it should be normalized. The expectation rather than the exception.

@Sheril yes! Thank you! ❤️ Excellent post. A critical part of any rational discourse is the willingness to reconsider one's own views when presented with new evidence or ideas. Without that willingness, it's all just gratuitous arguing.

@Sheril

I'm trying to rectify more than a Century of 'getting it wrong' in Aerodynamics.

The entire discipline has an IMMENSE amount to gain, and the learning that will result from moving to a new path are going, at some point, to be profound and far-reaching; if a similar re-alignment in Cosmology offers comparisons, the process may even boost social respect for science in a wider sense. Right now, ways to do THAT seem to be in demand.

Will YOU help me to 'normalize talking about it'...?
