Advice for new Moodle Devs

"Learning how to code in Moodle involves a lot of learning by example and reading other people's source code including Moodle core code. If you have a particular type of plugin in mind that you would like to create, it's recommended that you start by finding a plugin which provides similar functionality and use the process outlined above to clone it. Then customize it to suit your needs."

@marcusgreen Moodle is awesome! It's a shame more universities, including the one I'm at now, don't use it --- I'd have loved to hack on plugins for it.

The fact that many UK universities use Moodle for their course management is one of the things I'm proudest about the UK.

Globally Moodle has an unassailable lead in terms of pure user numbers https://stats.moodle.org/

I think the weak spot is usage in the ages before University. Possibly because of a perception of complexity and being targeted at Higher Education

@marcusgreen Oh, wow! That's great to hear. I guess I've been mislead because I hear a lot about US universities using Canvas or otherwise, but haven't heard about Moodle since leaving the UK.
