Remember that nonsense from Pamela Paul in the New York Times about how science must no longer be a meritocracy because PNAS rejected a (very poor) paper titled "In defense of merit in science"?

No? That's ok. It wasn't memorable.

Meritocracy is why there are still holdouts thinking dinosaurs turned into lizards, or more frequently they evolved into birds but *looked* like lizards contrary to evidence
