Back on with the Pianola restoration today. The replacement tubing arrived last week but just cleaning the keys - tiresome but it's a sunny day and I'm sat outside, listening to some piano music as I go. Clean ones on the left: #piano #playerpiano #pianola #restoration
Found the date stamped inside, February 1938. The Pianola restorer I bought the piping from guessed from the serial number 1937, so he knows his serial numbers! Also found a cosy little mouse nest under the keys. #pianola #playerpiano #piano #restoration
@johnl looking good. Sunlight is a good piano key whitener :)
Out if interest, how are you cleaning them and with what?
@markno thanks! I'm just cleaning them with mild dish soap (ecover) and water and a very soft dish sponge/scourer. I watched a video of a fancy piano restorers who just mentioned they used soap and water so didn't overthink it, though I know dish soap might not be the most appropriate soap to use. They're not coming out 100% clean but it's a huge improvement. They are plastic not tusk, fwiw.
