This is bullshit. The first people to lose their income if Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling should be Congress, not the nation's elderly and disabled. If Congress fails to do its job, why shouldn't they suffer the consequences? Social Security recipients rely on their benefits to pay their rent, purchase food, and fill prescriptions. If Congress loses their paycheck, they won't suffer any such hardships.
