Business leaders keep trying to shame people who work from home because downtown business districts depend on the income from consumers.

These same cities refused to ease their housing crises but now get mad because workers want to live further away from expensive cities.

@carnage4life If they had given more workers to option to live downtown instead of imposing massive parking requirements on residential development in places where people don’t use cars for many of their trips if at all, they’d have had enough people downtown throughout the pandemic to keep patronizing the restaurants and shops.

Maybe it's time for a discussion about a 32 hour work week.
@carnage4life it's not just expensive or not, it's about physical safety. The regularity with which my teammates stand-up update is “... and I have to take time to deal with building/garage entry system that is broken, because someone tampered with it” is astonishing. So is the fact that a regular office building need armed guards.
@carnage4life funny how they don't shame companies for setting up shop in suburban business parks rather than downtown. 🤔

@carnage4life " It’s the people who are 10-15 years into their career, in their mid 30s and 40s, who have been most stubborn about coming back,”

Well, I could have a guess or two why people who might be in the age of having kids or elderly parents to care for are not keen on wasting their time getting to and back from any office... This man and the journalist didn't talk to any of them?

I’ve saved £18k over the last 3 years in child care fees. In addition, my career has taken off in ways I never thought possible since wfh. Im autistic and can come off as odd to the less broad minded among us so have never really been taken seriously. Wfh I get to showcase my skills and experience without awkward face to face that I hate, and I now actually have a decent career which is taking off into areas I never dreamed possible. So yeah, wfh forever 🥳
