This stuff is probably going to be what gets me a filament-style 3D printer. I’m still too scared of the poisonous resin ones to risk getting one for printing minis but something simpler that will help me build organisational tools? Uh yeah
*touches finger to ear* I’m hearing that t-track extrusion the guy has infinite amounts of would cost over a thousand bucks to obtain

@neoluddite oh that’s nice! I’d need the connective hardware but the other stuff I could do on the drill press. I’ve got microjig match fit tools too, mostly just don’t have enough MDF to build the components

@rocketpilot in fact, I suspect that's why it hasn't really taken off as a product: the kind of people who will want to make stuff from it won't have any issues making it :)
@neoluddite There’s a lot to be said for a standardised approach to this stuff but I guess the sweet spot is fairly small, you outgrow it pretty fast
@rocketpilot standard schmandard 😀 The beauty of it is the simplicity and that you can up- or down-size it however you like, make it from whatever you have lying around
I made some 1cm thick beam versions from scrap to play with, and used 3mm SS bolts from ebay. The holes were a little bit fiddly to drill correctly but not hugely so (ok with a drill press and a fence with cm markings), and I can always widen the holes a bit if necessary.

Either you’ll spend the best part of $1000 on a reasonable printer, or the best part of $1000 upgrading a cheap printer to a reasonable level
@jpm filament ones, good ones obviously, are still that expensive?
