@alternativeNobody well you start with beef !!!! you can use any kind you want i guess i started with cutting pieces but i found it saves a lot of prep time to look in the grocery store for beef stir fry mix next to the steaks that's pre cut up, I also get bell peppers and jalapenos, usually i make like 4-8 oz of beef with half a bell pepper and 1 jalapeno cleaned of the seeds, but you could just do a whole bell pepper instead
I marinate the steak in a mix of cumin, salt, paprika, and chili powder plus lime juice and white vinegar, how long depends on if you wanna marinate a whole steak at once or marinate it already cut up but its anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours is good
You get a really hot pan full of oil, toss in the steak and brown it for a while until the fat cooks down a bit, toss in the peppers right when the fat starts to burn so the pan cools off from the water in them, then cook the mix until the steak is done through and the peppers are tender, then toss on a tortilla of your choice ! traditional fajita is just this but i like to add salsa and cheese to make it more like a taco
An important part of cooking the beef i've found is to not follow the urge to drain the fat from the beef, it looks gross at first but you get a tastier product when you cook everything in the fat as it eventually reduces and creates a coating on the meat that makes a really tasty sear without burning or sticking to the pan, this fat also mixes into the peppers and makes them tastier
Cast iron is preferred but i assume you could get a good product still with a non stick or whatever pan you have around
