Our free speech workshop was very alright. A hot lunch was provided. After lunch the serving dishes remained over the Sterno. As a lawyer from PEN talked about the First Amendment, one of the pots of Sterno ran out and gave off a strong burning smell. When the talk was over, I asked the lawyer who had presented whether yelling fire in a crowded conference room was protected speech. And I kid you not, she directed me to @Popehat. :)
@rjblaskiewicz @Popehat Everyone always forgets that the prohibition in Schenck was against *falsely* shouting fire. If there's actually a fire, yell all you want.
@jef @rjblaskiewicz @Popehat They also forget that Schenk has long since been superceded.
