@GottaLaff How pathetically sad that parents seek to impede their children’s education….. why rob your children like that, I do not understand….

@morganalafee @GottaLaff

MAGA voters want their own children "protected" from realities like extraordinary young poets like Amanda Gorman AND prevent YOUR children from learning about her too.

Fine if they want to pretend reality isn't real for themselves, but they do not have the right to impose their ideology on others.

@Npars01 @GottaLaff I am interested in the idea of MAGA parents being so interested in the “protection of their children innocence”….. I wonder if they are more “control/authoritarian parents”than “protection parents”…. Power is a dangerous thing……????

@morganalafee @Npars01 @GottaLaff

the -authoritarian- conception of power is a very dangerous thing (threat based, power OVER others ).

But that's only one way to wield power. Power is: the ability to make binding decisions, nothing more, nothing less.

Egalitarian minded folks do that via shared input, cooperation and collaboration- aka via democracy

It speaks volumes about how many implicit biases we all hold that so many of us generally think of "power" as a dangerous thing.

@CJPaloma @Npars01 @GottaLaff I think, as you mentioned, egalitarian power is thought of as a “soft” power to encourage co-operatively between “equals” where the conditions push society to see ALL members as equal partipants …..
The word “power” has a generally negative connotation because of its general use in a military context ….
I use it in that sense because of the fractured society is see in the “United States”.

@morganalafee @Npars01 @GottaLaff

understood. I'd go even further and say military might the world over (state sanctioned use of force) has had a huge effect on the establishment of countries...meaning most countries were in significant ways established by conquest/colonization (force)...so it makes sense that our "general" thoughts about power are about the authoritarian forms of it.

"Power corrupts" is taken as such a truism -because- authoritarian forms of power have been so pervasive.
