@elduvelle yeah it counts! a 401a is similar but kinda better in that the employer must contribute.
403b is voluntary and brandeis selectively contributes, and apparently not for postdocs
Chris Rodgers@BlakeP_Neuro IIRC, Columbia matched for all employees except adjunct profs, associate research scientists (=senior postdoc), and certain librarians 🙄
