The river Lugg at Hampton Court Castle, Herefordshire. Flows but feels dead. Reminds me of the old main line of the Birmingham Canal, BCN, at Oldbury back in the 1960s when, after a boat passed by, small pieces of phosphorus waste would float up from the silt and smoulder on the surface of the water.

At that time the canal was being used by tanker barges to ship phosphorus waste from Albright & Wilson's Oldbury/Langley chemical plant to a marl hole for long term lagoon storage.
