Should the axion be experimentally confirmed, it would answer many questions that have dogged scientists for decades, not least of which is what dark matter is made of. And even if it isn't found, the ALPS II experiment would produce a massive exclusion on the properties of the axion, helping future experiments look for it. #lightupdarkmatter
