Hey #linux friends. I've got an old ASUS WD01. It's an ARM tablet with Windows RT, which sucks. I want to install linux on it, but I don't know how or which. Any pointers on this?

Boosts welcomed.

@eliocamp maybe this is a starting point. Don't expect too much, though. https://openrt.gitbook.io/open-surfacert/get-started

You own a Windows RT device and want to give it a new life? Congratulations you came to the right place.

@stefan_hessbrueggen Bummer that it's so limited. It's a nice-feeling piece of hardware :(

@eliocamp You could try to figure it out ahead of time, in which case you need a good bit of data (amount of RAM, disk space, graphics card, wireless and/or ethernet capabilities, etc etc etc).

Or you could download live install onto a USB (assuming it uses thumbdrives?) run it, and see if it works. Much simpler ☺️ .

My personal pref would be linux Mint xfce.

@quixote It's not that simple, apparently, because it's bios is very locked and you need and ARM distribution and ARM apps.
