I know it’s a very basic statement but I think it’s also an important reminder: root incentives matter.
As long as the goal is ultimately “more money” everything will pay for it.
Good people try to shield from this, but the tension is always there.
As a tangent: that’s why UBI is fundamentally more than just an economic incentive. Even if UBI might not turn out to be the ideal solution, its rooted in the right foundation for change.

UBI doesn't make a distinction between 'deserving' and 'undeserving' people. Everyone gets the same. An amount that to work needs to be enough to have a decent quality of life.
This means that everyone is treated as equal, can survive, and thus can make decisions that are truly for the person and not accepting anything because they need a job to survive.
That's why while UBI is a financial incentive, it's much more than that.
