Nebraska. Republicans gather to celebrate banning healthcare for trans kids and simultaneously eliminating abortion access in the state

In Jesus’ name.

A Jesus who:

Hates science
Hates gay people
Hates trans people
Hates poor people
Puts gun rights above children
And needs your money

Think about the kind of person it takes to celebrate hurting others.

For many of us, this isn’t just the face of the GOP. This is the face of Christianity

@flexghost I saw photos of people smiling and dancing after the abortion and anti trans bill passed, and I just cannot fathom how someone can be so happy about causing another person harm.

They didn’t do it in a vacuum, either, it was after extended testimony from folks who will suffer in the future, for a three month filibuster.

If someone explains to me they’re suffering for three _minutes_ I will want to help them?

Anyway, it just hurts to see people happy that I might disappear.

@Haste well said. They sat there with those sticky smiles, listening to testimony from people directly affected, and still had the joy of an HOA member giving fines to an old woman for her birdbath.

@Haste @flexghost people that realise that you can kick other people down and gain power convinced those people that the root of all thier problems is a minority that can't fight back and supposed moral failings. I don't find thier reaction surprising, just sad because the moral failings was them.
