It's basically an exact copy of Twitter, in that they spend their time moaning about what people on Twitter say. Exhausting. You're not missing out.
I thought this was a funny joke, but no - Bluesky really is veeeeery quiet. I would not stress about "missing out" for quite a while.
Although there are some moments of greatness (no, I don't have any invites yet):
Comparing the AOC on Twitter with the AOC on Bluesky is fascinating.
The in-jokes are breeding...
@TomF how so?
@jberg She's much more business on Twitter. More dog photos on Bluesky.
@TomF probably her Twitter is run by multiple staffers
@TomF I don’t have it - but how does it not end up as an ad-based abomination long term. Twitter was a hellscape of ads long before Space Karen took over!
@neilhenning AdBlockPlus is your friend.
@TomF right but most people will use the phone app - so it won’t help there!
@TomF eh, plus all that it touts as features are things that I literally hated about twitter, algorithms are self feeding and people tune their posts to game the algorithms, which in turn keep pushing those posts, and since it's all about the ads controversy drives clicks, hence why twitter doomscrolling was a thing. Just by the fact that "missing out" by not getting in early enough to get a voice is a thing is worrying.
@TomF Honestly, Twitter hasn't turned into the dumpster fire everyone claimed it would. In my experience it's still pretty much the same. All these little twitter wannabes are just making life difficult for me. I wish people would go back.
@Felice It still might, for sure. It just hasn't. I'm still not going to invest in it, but I'm not going to ignore it either.
