Google maps bug: sum of segments is 2.5h shorter than a multi stop trip.

Anyone working at Google want to file an internal bug?

@alok could this be related to the starting time not being the same for the Zermatt-Lugano segment? For instance, because it would cause you to miss the Simplon piggyback, which is every two hours?
@max looking more carefully, it’s not picking the same route. In one case there’s a segment through Italy?

@alok right, that's what I was saying, the short route takes the Simplon tunnel.

Maybe it picked the short route when you would arrive just before the train departure, and the long route is just a bit faster than waiting for the next train if you miss it by one minute?

But then it's not clear why it doesn't send you through the mountain pass

@max this is typically the problem with things being “too smart” and not giving you enough insights into what’s going on. I’d rather it told me “hey, you can do this trip in 6.5h but you’ll be tied to a train schedule which doesn’t run very often. The alternative route is 8h”.
@alok I think that's why the route has a ferry boat icon. Maybe not the most intuitive thing in the world, I agree.
