Heartening sight✋
A great day. Fuck BJP. Fuck Modi. 😃💪
Thinking INC may end closer to or past 140 🤞
Worrying trend in India is that urban educated and rich elite are totally radicalized and are captive votebank of BJP. BJP only loses if their economic policies are severely hurting agriculturists and poor.
Last year rhe BJP state govt in Karnataka banned the Hijab in schools and refused to let Muslim girls enter schools unless they removed their veils. Middle aged sanghi school teachers lasciviously took off veils off their students in what was a disgusting sight.

What is happening in Karnataka is really an orchestrated public humiliation of Muslims by the state and judiciary. Normally such things only happen when there is broad based support at the highest echelons of that society for this to happen.

Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: BJP clinches Jayanagar cliffhanger by 16 votes; Congress mulls legal route

It was the cliffhanger election legends are made of. The BJP’s C K Ramamurthy beat Congress MLA Sowmya Reddy by a measly 16 votes to win the Jayanagar assembly seat at Saturday midnight after a long, tense counting of votes at SSRMV PU College. After 16 rounds of counting, Reddy polled 57,591 votes, holding a narrow 294 lead over Ramamurthy. While Congress workers celebrated, the BJP demanded a recount. Election officials agreed.

I actually heard a TV anchor (Rahul Kanwal) remark with absolute glee about this while trends were still fluid..."Congress is LOSING 37% of the seats through which the Bharat Jodo Yatra passed!"
@def__init__e Oh crap, was actually going to point out Sowmya Reddy as a counter example to urban radicalisation.
@def__init__e Yes, a quarter of BJP’s 64 seats have come from greater Bangalore area constituencies. The next big orange cluster seems to be Mangalore-area constituencies per Deccan Herald’s map: https://www.deccanherald.com/election/karnataka/karnataka-assembly-election-constituency-wise-result-2023-live-data-bjp-congress-jds-party-wise-performance-winners-and-losers-1218173.htm
@cydonian coastal karnataka is the most prosperous and highly literate part of the state.
@def__init__e Yup, used to live close to Mangalore in Kasaragod, Kerala. Have fond memories of that stretch, particularly of its multicultural, multilingual ethos. Quite sad to see the rise of Hindu fundamentalism (Ram Sene etc) there.
