Catching up on the new things announced at Google I/O; I used to really enjoy my few Nexus-branded Android devices back in the day, but wow I really don't even know what Android is anymore, other than not-iPhone. There's just nothing about that OS, design language or ecosystem that appeals to me anymore. It doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, it just … *exists* 😅 Really sad we never got to see a Windows Phone 11 with the new design direction. Material You is just a huge swing and a miss to me
@stroughtonsmith Do you feel like iOS design is "going somewhere"? I similarly dabbled with Android for a few years but have been on iOS since the iPhone XR. To me, it feels like iOS design has also been stagnant (albeit it considerably better than Android).
@Lightsout565 if I'm building an iOS app, I can expand it to iPad, (iPad Pro w/ keyboard/mouse & external display), Mac, and soon AR headset. So many opportunities to make powerful, complex apps that people will buy, and a long runway. There's very little of that worth doing on the other side. There's a motion vector — it's not just stuck on a single device type
