Looks like mastodon.social has another crypto spam problem this morning. Please report them as you see them.

@jerry i mean, DM spam of your advance fee fraud phish site to people on an infosec-focused server?

it's a bold strategy cotton, let's see if it pays off for them

(i already reported it to google safe browsing etc)

@Rairii @jerry The truly wild thing is that they're sending multiple spam messages to each recipient, from different accounts, which makes it *completely obvious* that it's phishing rather than legit!
@jerry I got 3 in 4min (reported all), and it was over quickly. But it's going to be an ongoing problem with .social as the default. Spoke to my sources in the fake amplification game and they're still interested in this market.

@jerry hi Jerry, fairly new fediverse user and blonde ... Giggles ... who do you report them to? ... To the instance the message comes from ?

Thank you

Hugz & xXx

@melissabeartrix no worries. If you’re looking at a message you find problematic and violates your instance’s rules, look for the “…” icon if you’re in the web interface and that will pop up a menu and “report username” will be an option, and that will walk you through some questions that will alert your instance moderators and the moderators of the home instance of the poster (if it’s different). Moderators have a work queue if reported accounts and posts that we use to find troublesome accounts.
