@xris The Global Carex Working group, so folks that know the plants best. But they've lumped some very distinct morphological groups (sections Laxiflorae, Paniceae, and Bicolores) together under the name section Paniceae.

It sounds like the current circumscription of the sections is artificial, but until there's a resolution of the outstanding issues the existing names are useful morphologically.
