I certainly remember that my dad was rarely home before 20:00 when I was a kid.

@kaasbaas being a military kid, this hits a little different. My dad was gone for my Birthday almost every year for a good chunk of my childhood. I don’t blame him for it, I know he had almost no control over it. He would call and I could hear the disappointment in his voice.
BUT, retail workers have this expectation of hustle placed upon them by their bosses. Every boss I’ve ever had expected 200% effort. Overtime is expected & required bu some. Its all fucked up.
