Ok, I could use some help or opinions. Anyone know anything about El Morro Fort, San Jaun Puerto Rico and/or El Morrow National Park, or El Morro beach in California, or even the El Morro Gold Mine in Chile...

OK, I admit it, I don't have a clue... I'm trying to work out why #DonSebesky call one of his two #CTIrecords albums "The Rape Of El Morro"....

It was originally to be called "Spanish Blood" which probably eliminates the beach in California and el morro is a Spanish term for headland or cliff....
It's been a fun few times talking to and poking about in the photographic, video and painting archive of Alan Kaplan. His picture from his social commentary "Study in Gray" - The Dull Life of Women in 1969 was used without permission or payment it seems on the cover of #DonSebesky album "Rape Of El Morro". In that context it's dark and brooding, seen in it's original context it takes on a whole different perspective. #CTIrecords #CreedTaylor
@ctproduced that's a fascinating photograph. Unsettling.
@Andylikesguitars Indeed, in context, "Shades Of Gray - The Dull Life of Women" collection deserves to be much better known. It was a great commentary on the generalized life women had been pushed into, and the photo set was specifically aimed at showing how their lives were boxed in and focused around a very few key activities. Their value was only seen in a few, very limited ways. I'll be writing more about it, and Alan Kaplan soon on ctproduced.com
@ctproduced when is it from? Presumably pre-digital manipulation? The control of tone to make the real people almost indistinguishable from the manikins is pretty skillful.
