The Carlson-to-Twitter news tells me two things.

1. He is more interested in influence than money.
2. He thinks his audience is his own and not Fox's.

Tucker Carlson makes a big bet on his own power

The former Fox News host’s move to Twitter makes it obvious that he saw his role as shaping the narrative rather than covering the news.

@pbump I think he’s right about point 2. And I hope FOX is badly damaged by their abandonment of that audience. I will enjoy watching the Murdochs bleed out red ink. Hopefully they sell off their sports platforms and I can go back to watching college football and baseball again
@JerseysBest @pbump Glenn Beck thought the same thing.
@MichaelTBacon @pbump make no mistake. I loathe the Murdoch’s nihilistic politics. It’s why I won’t watch ANYTHING (including the Super Bowl and the World Series) on FOX let alone anything on FIX News
