The so-called party of “law & order” is so dangerous that the Judge ruling over Trump’s sexual abuse conviction trial is compelled to warn jurors to remain anonymous “for a long time,” lest harm come to them.😳

The is the GOP today. Smh. Horrible.

@QasimRashid
e.g., search for something like, "Georgia election workers harassment"

@QasimRashid In other words, don't breathlessly jump in front of a camera on Good Morning America to share your experience being Juror No. X any time soon.

#Carroll #verdict

@QasimRashid I'm curious, what keeps Trump's side from leaking juror identities? I assume his lawyer has the info. I do not trust the guy, for obvious reasons.

@erikalyn @QasimRashid

That's a real good question, and we know GOP are not above doxxing everyone including children.

@erikalyn @QasimRashid According to the New York Times, the identities of the jurors were kept secret from the lawyers and even the judge. Apparently, only the court officers responsible for calling people to jury service know who they are.

@erikalyn @QasimRashid

If Trumps lawyer doxxes the members of the jury.
He will be disbarred for engaging in a criminal activity.

@antipode77 @erikalyn @QasimRashid

And what would be in it for Trump's lawyers to do this? They may be supporters of their client, and they may not. But even if they are, it's a big risk to take with little return to them if they do it (and, as we've seen, they don't even know their names).

@stevensrmiller @erikalyn @QasimRashid

Anyone doing Trumps bidding ruins their career and reputation, they may well land in prison.

Everything Trump touches turns into 💩.

@stevensrmiller @antipode77 @QasimRashid

People around Trump contort themselves to please him, or else they're out of his inner circle, and he seems to treat his lawyers as enforcers. But as others have pointed out, it's unlikely due to the jury being anonymous even to the lawyers, and the risk of being disbarred. That's what I was hoping to find out, and now I know.

@QasimRashid Terrifying. I guess that pushes them towards being a domestic terror threat?🤔
So.... a judge imagines that something could potentially happen so jurors should take basic measures, and that means it absolutely will happen and you can attack the people who haven't done anything as if they did the thing?

Of course it does. I don't even know why I bothered asking.
@sj_zero @QasimRashid Good point; I wonder why the felt need to complain breathlessly about hypotheticals.
@QasimRashid ...Dealing with an criminal that likes to hurt many...
@QasimRashid Important warning
Sad but true. #TrumpIsALoser He would try and retaliate against the jurors if he could.

@QasimRashid Keep i

New York created the new law for Ms. Carroll, Reid Hoffman paid for the legal costs, and Ms. Carroll made her sketchy accusations of something, from sometime, that wasn’t certain to have happened. There were no witnesses to the claimed events, there was no evidence the event took place, there was nothing to indicate Ms. Carroll or Mr. Trump were even in the same place at the same time.

@QasimRashid

These Republican billionaire donors funding an anti-democracy movement, including incitement of violence towards jurors.

These people get to pick America's next coup plotter:

Peter Thiel is funding DeSantis. Thiel changes his mind like a girl changes her clothes.

Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman Reportedly Skeptical Of DeSantis—Joining These Other Billionaire GOP Donors

Schwarzman, the 54th richest person in the world, was reportedly unimpressed after meeting DeSantis.

@Npars01 @QasimRashid

Thiel wants to make a deal with DeSantis. He has some specific asks. I doubt he'll impose conditions on DeSantis' bloodthirstiness as part of those asks.

@QasimRashid
Jury members should not be identified and forbidden to discuss the case. This is to protect them from civil suits and of course harm to them and their families.
I am a huge fan of no jury trials. Judges are legally trained and there are still appeals.
@QasimRashid Indeed. These are dangerous times.

@QasimRashid

It's disturbing. More and more, they are saying that if one of them loses a case, it proves the judiciary is faulty. They think "law & order" means a duly deputized posse, not a judge and jury. If this trend continues, it won't end well.

@QasimRashid scary, but I also think it's weird that jury members are ever allowed to identify themselves. That seems to easy to allow for jury tampering
@QasimRashid Shocking. What has happened to the US?
