Do we have any leech experts on Mastodon? I'm looking into medicinal leeches, but the initial documentation is saying to never reuse them. This seems a bit cruel, even for an omnivore like me. I just need to lose 500ml to 1L of blood in total every month. Leeches seem like the best way to do this without buildup of scarring over time. I was considering a leech aquarium where I would be treating them like both treasured pets & medical assistants.

@allenstenhaus maybe the single use only applies if the leech is used on multiple patients. If it's just on you all the time it might be ok? This is just a guess, there may be another reason.

@ianbetteridge @allenstenhaus I know nothing about them, but my none expert opinion is the aquarium idea sounds very nice. a bit like my support workers dog, she's pet first, and was breeding second, Denise only had one litter from her and then had her seen too as it was too dangerous to try again as she had to have caesarean. luckily she nor any of the cute as cute puppies died.
