Today, Fort Hood was renamed for San Antonio’s Richard E. Cavazos – the first Mexican American to reach the rank of four-star general in the Army.

Gen. Cavazos inspired generations of troops with his integrity and courage. Starting today, Ft. Cavazos proudly bears his name.

Fort Hood renamed for real American hero – Cavazos (Editorial)

Fort Hood finally renamed Fort Cavazos, elevating a native Texan who served his country in Korea and Vietnam instead of a traitor who fought for a slavocracy.

Why were US military bases ever named after those who were traitors to the US and fought AGAINST the US military? (ICYMI, Ft Hood and certain other bases were/are named after Confederate "heroes" who fought against the UNITED States.)

It's high time that the names of those traitors were removed and replaced with the names of real American heroes.

Congratulations to Ft Cavazos on its great new name!

@ZhiZhu @Joaquincastrotx USA bases were named after Confederates during WWII to placate southern governors since the Army knew that African-Americans would be trained and stationed on those bases.

And why was this considered a good idea? It was as appalling then as it is now.
