@ChuffMeister @AmishSuperModel Yes. I own an AR-15 entirely because it’s fun to shoot at the range. The thought of using it on people never crossed my mind. I also enjoy archery, have a problem with that too? I’m sure the French at Agincourt might.
Shockingly, I’m a hard-core leftist (not liberal) who also believes in strong gun regulation and research.

Not being inflammatory with these questions just curious. I have never met a weapon owner who hadn’t imagined using it in some context even if it’s family defence.

An AR15 is a *terrible* home defense weapon. In addition to how shockingly loud it is, even the low grain range rounds I use will go through several layers of drywall and stucco. CA-legal rifles also have minimum barrel length requirements that make them impractical to use in confined environments.

@dssstrkl @AmishSuperModel I live in the U.K. where we have ZERO mass shootings. But I’ve fired a Lee Enfield, An army issue SLR and was taken hunting by my ex-military step father as a child. I’ve held drug dealers guns in California (I asked) and I know plenty of people internationally who own a variety of weapons.
Most are honest and state owning guns make them feel safe and powerful. All have imagined shooting someone. Natural thoughts are not yet a crime

@ChuffMeister @AmishSuperModel Fair enough, it’s probably just me being neurodivergent vs everyone else again. I get the same dopamine rush from hitting my target as I do bouncing a QRP signal halfway around the world or trying a new recipie and having it come out delicious.
Beyond me, the fact is guns in the US aren’t going anywhere, especially if the only choices are between far-right fascists and a weak-willed and ineffective center-right opposition
@dssstrkl @AmishSuperModel I’d agree with the fact the only way the US can escape its daily murder rate at the hands of weapons sales is through a strong government willing to enforce a semi automatic ban. Your country is seriously lost.
I’d also point out that a part of you knows it’s better to have a semi if the fascists get any more intrenched into power. Being ND myself I know where fascism goes for those even slightly different and understand the concern

I’d much rather they were owned by antifa, women and BAME than white men who to be frank are generally to fragile to trust with such dangerous weapons- as evidenced by the US gun murder rates.
Though it could be argued the gun sale dominated culture there shares the blame.

@ChuffMeister @AmishSuperModel And yes, it has definitely occurred to me that it’s good to be armed in the face of rising fascism. That being said, at least in the US, the fascists are lazy cowards who immediately melt in the face of armed resistance.
If things get to the point of actual armed conflict, then we’ve already lost the plot. So no, I still haven’t considered actually firing my weapons in anger, because those circumstances are too terrible to contemplate.

By knowing it should never happen you have imagined it. I’d totally argue that I’d rather a world full of people thinking like you do that one full of angry people obsessed with violent fantasy’s.

@ChuffMeister @AmishSuperModel I think we’re arguing semantics at this point. I have not imagined myself murdering anyone. Brandishing? Threatening? Sure, but there’s a yawning gap between carrying or even aiming and actually shooting someone. You’re trying to tell me what thoughts are in my head and that’s not an argument you’re going to win

@dssstrkl @AmishSuperModel I think the U.K. is the most blatantly corrupt western government and only a little behind the US in terms of population exploitation and cultural killing. What little remains of our once great Heath service and guns are the main differences.
