The towns of Gorham, Scarborough, South Portland, and Westbrook strongly support the concept. But last summer the Portland City Council voted unanimously to ask the turnpike authority to stop work on the project, pending the results of a regional rapid transit study.

@climatebrad We'll see. This idea is so dumb and so expensive that I expect it to fail under its own weight (just as the referendum against the HydroQuebec transmission line ultimately failed), but it'll definitely need some help getting shoved into the dustbin.
