I have been led to believe that childbirth is not the most fun. And CIA torture chambers sound pretty awful.

But have you ever tried to adjust to the tiniest little change in a prescription for high-powered varifocal glasses?

Pretty sure there is a double whammy of declining neuroplasticity during middle age too. Definitely wasn't this hard adjusting to new spectacles when I was a kid.

@phillipdewet sounds like a headache. I only have -3.5 and went with contacts and reading glasses.
@paulmwatson May have to explore that. I did some silly things with contacts as a teenager, but the damage eventually healed. Just need to get over the PTSD.
@phillipdewet I feel you. Took me 2 months to get used to mine and I’m STILL making micro adjustments to try focus properly. Driving me insane

@gioghignone Okay, that is /bad/ bad. Think my worst adjustment was about one month.

Dunno if you've tried them, but these silicone ear hooks are helping me somewhat. At the price of extra pressure on the nose, they keep my glasses firmly in one place, no little slips or jiggles.
Still can't quite keep my hands off my glasses, but definitely reduces the number of adjustments I make.

@phillipdewet I haven’t but will seek them out. These are my first multifocals, so I’m hoping it’s just my eyes pushing back against being called “old”
@gioghignone Never met anyone who didn't adapt in the end, so I like your odds.
