One thing I never know how to handle: people bringing their dogs on trails in the #PointReyes National Seashore wildlife reserves that have clear ‘no dogs allowed’ signs. In general, I want to mind my own business, but when I see someone with a bouncy husky puppy walking into the Tule Elk reserve, I silently lose my mind. This happened yesterday, and I regret not confronting them. :(

@Cameo Not to mention, dogs harassing livestock can be shot. And the chance their dog will run off and get lost. Dogs belong in downtown Point Reyes, getting pats, not out on trails not designated for them.

@samhainnight @Cameo these rules make sense, but don't confine dogs to towns. Designate other natural areas close by for them where they are allowed. Humanity has domesticated them and that's fine, but that also gives us the duty to give them what they need and they too need safe places to run and play unleashed.

I'm living near a national park myself and don't mind and understand why part is closed for me and my dog, but happily and often visit the open parts where he can meet other dogs

Point Reyes is a small walkable town in the countryside and there are tons of places to walk dogs in and out of town. But one of the fun things about Point Reyes is meeting and patting all the great dogs there! When my dad was alive, everyone knew his dog, Ruff. :)

@samhainnight yup! And there are a bunch of trails and roads for dogs- but the wildlife reserve trails are it for dogs.
