This is good, but the failure to properly acknowledge that the monarchy were dictatorial until the people proactively rose up and defanged them (to some part) is annoying. The constitutional momarchy is a compromise, not an invention to ensure checks on elected heads of state.

@olamina @SamJSharpe yeah agree article lacked some things esp around legacy of control and colonialism, stood out to me as the only coherent explanation I’ve found of why British people often think the monarchy is irrelevant but possibly better than the alternative.
