raphael@georgetakei i saw in a comment thread on ars technica (on twitter’s failure to deal with the fallout of the shooting) that one commenter knows a coworker who said with full emotional conviction that the moment he held his AR-15 (illegally gotten from across state lines) was right up there with the moment he held his just-born son for the first time.
how is one even supposed to reason with people like that?

@caffeinatedbookdragon that was strikingly (and gut-sinkingly) well put. the stranglehold gun culture holds on all levels, from gun rights organisations, their propaganda and their paid politicians, down to omnipresent notions about the use of guns for civilians, it’s hard to stay optimistic with regards to a solution of this problem.
