#EJeanCarroll v #Trump closing arguments. Thread. 🪡 1/… #legal

Roberta Kaplan:

"You saw for yourself. E. Jean Carroll wasn't hiding anything."

Her testimony was "credible," "consistent," and "powerful."

Roberta Kaplan shows the clip of Trump's deposition video where he mixes up Carroll with Marla Maples.

@GottaLaff

Trump uses as a "defense" that old canard of "she's not attractive, therefore I didn't rape her." You know, the one that lies about rape, pretending it is about sexuality, not violence & power.

Trump: "She's not my type."
Minutes later:" I literally cannot tell the difference between a picture of her, & a picture of the woman I cheated on my wife with, then later married."

@chargrille Yes, all ridiculous. But something may stick. Tacopina is doing everything he can to show that SHE'S the liar. Let's hope no juror buys his crap.

@GottaLaff

He's really throwing the full stable of misogyny, "if she were *really* raped, she'd do X because all women are exactly the same," & rape culture at this. I practically spit at that "I'd never tell my daughters or any rape survivor how to act" BS - are you kidding? It's his entire "defense."

I guess it depends how much exposure the jury has had to real facts about rape. It's always worth sharing what we know with people in our lives.

Thank you for preparing these excerpts/summary.

@chargrille YVW.

He's presenting a typically misogynist case, plus calling her a liar. That's all he's got. Team Trump from the top down is despicable.

@GottaLaff

I expect nothing better but it is despicable nonetheless. Calling the accuser a liar is the sina qua non of the misogynist case, though they don't always state it quite so openly & desperately as Trump's hitman has here. TY again.

@chargrille Your bio! I love it.
