@jeberWell, before we decide to focus on one of several topics, we should assess the effort/benefit ratio. In the US, with so many fed states, it is a hard struggle to get a strict gun control. If you see the guns per person ratio and compare it to countries with stricter laws, you might wonder if number of homicides are not rather low in the US.
Most gun owners don't kill.
Another problem: most homicides are committed with illegal guns. Astonishingly, the number of illegal weapons is much higher than in countries with strict gun controll.
Those mass shootings are more related to mental health than gun ownership. My conclusion: good access to health care, both physically and mental, will do a better job than gun controll.
Though it is strange for us European, that you can buy an assault rifle at shopping malls in the US.
