This statement somehow holds true for all cultures. It's all about what people are familiar with, their way of life, sense of belonging, and identification. These things create inertia and breed distrust of the unfamiliar or alien. I think we all need saving, but very few are willing or able to break free from the safety of what is familiar to them.
