@raf I couldn't wait so I decided to go to Fine Bagels this morning before work – across the city w/ the U1/U3.
Sadly the very friendly staff didn't recommend me buying pastry b/c of my sesame allergy: all the bakery is sesame contaminated. So I went home, sad and hungry.
Plan B: checking my library's Yiddishe/Jewish cook books and do it by myself (^_^)

One option if you are willing to do the trek might be Babka & Krantz Meisterkonditorei. Though it's probably best to call ahead and just ask since it's very much outside the ring

They are outside the Ring indeed, but as an Native Berliner I know that Friedenau/Steglitz (Walter-Schreiber-Platz) is very easy to go to w/ U9 or bus (M48/M85).
Sadly – after I checked their Instagram https://www.instagram.com/babkaundkrantz/ – they use sesame very generous, so it’s a place I should avoid.
