Had a case of mistaken identity via SMS. I managed to end it quickly, they didn't respond after the pic. I don't expect this pic will be used to catfish anyone as I'm looking really rough even for me. 😂
They didn't respond.
@StealthBadger That just seems like typical phone spam. I doubt it's mistaken identity.
@kcivey Usually my phone spam is people wanting me to apply for the $25,000 tax credit for retained employees I don't have, or want me to get an extended warranty on my car, which I also don't have.
@StealthBadger I get lots of SMS and WhatsApp messages that are people supposedly trying to contact someone else. I just ignore them, or report them as spam, because there's no way the vast majority of them are honest mistakes, especially when almost no one nowadays is inputting the numbers every time for people they know. They just want a response so they can draw you into something or just put you down as a viable target.
@kcivey That's weird, this is the first mistaken identity message I've gotten in over a decade. I must be on the "angry suspicious old bastard" list.
@StealthBadger I probably get 1 every couple of weeks, so maybe that doesn't count as "lots". Actually maybe a little more if you count the ones that Google marks as spam immediately.
